Bloggin' from tha road!

Hey y'all! Adam here, riding shotgun in my own 2000 mazda 626 with adge behind the wheel and a car full o' nicks up ahead. We are a few hours outside of new York city and I'm doing my best to blog from adge's iPhone. Earlier we passed four blades of the World's Most Giant Propellor, each being carried on their own wide load semi. Also I saw an old German car from like the 1920's. Sweet. Been listening to a lot of the Garden State soundtrack with tears streaming down our cheeks. Also listened to Cake's Fashion Nugget with significantly fewer tears. More NYC blogging to come!

Saturday Morning, where are the cartoons?

Adam here. It's saturday morning at 9:40 am and there is a surprising lack of cartoons on TV right now. All I found was Spongebob Squarepants and some bible-related show that didn't look particularly cool. I don't know the last time I was awake this early on a Saturday, and this time it's for good reason gone bad. I was supposed to be at work today at 8 am, but I slept through my alarm and didn't wake up until almost 9, and by then, working a 4 hour day had turned into the possibility of hauling ass and getting a little over 2 hours in, so I decided against it. Fortunately for me (take that, alarm!!) I have the most flexible job in the world and my boss couldn't care less that I'm not working right now.

Now back to Spongebob Squarepants. Apparently there is a greatest hits album from SBSP and on it Cee-Lo Green has recorded a cover of the theme song to the show. I have decided that its now my mission to hear that as soon as humanly possible.

Currently on TV is the video for Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield". Why does love always feel like a battlefield? Better go and getchyur armor. WHAT? First off, she should learn how to spell her own first name. Second of all, she owes any success of that song to Pat Benetar. And 3rd, I think the word "armor" is virtually impossible to use in a cool way in a pop song. If you can find an example of it used well, I'll give you a prize.

Time to mow the lawn.

I'm excited for our NYC show at the Annex on Wednesday, recording our new demo "I Want, I Want" the week after, and getting new t-shirts in the coming weeks. Wowee.

A little recommended listening

Hey Blog O'Sphere,

It's Nick L here, just writing to holler some good music at you. Lately I've been listening to a lot of stuff I didn't have before:

Tom Waits' Swordfishtrombones
Sun Kil Moon's Ghosts of the Great Highway
Micachu's Jewellery,

I'm just starting My Morning Jacket's Evil Urges, I don't know what I think, but it's good so far and worth a listen because they are a great band.

We just finished a really exciting version of Iscariot complete with pops and clicks, synth spaciness, tom-tom and chair percussion a la Adge, and lots of cool transporting moments courtesy of Nick P.

Love,

Nicholas L

Walk the Moon

I was boogie-ing in the front of the Danceteria crowd in an orange t-shirt, you were wearing a patterned dress and you were jumping around behind me.

The last two days have been wonderful. Wonderful. On Thursday we played at the Madison Theater and it was incredible--I've never played somewhere like that but it was amazing and fun and big and loud. We played in a lineup that featured some tight bands who were all really nice to us. The guys from The London were really friendly: http://www.thelondonband.com/blog, and Watson Park were as well. They gave us a free CD! http://www.myspace.com/watsonpark. At any rate, the show was incredibly fun, and Brooke, Jess, Hilary, Emily, Chunk, Greg Hart aka Dagmar, Joe, Patti, Alex Howe, Snoop-a-loop, Chunk's family, and more people who I'm forgetting to mention came out and saw us. Awesome!

Last night, we played in the finals of the Dirty Dozen Band Challenge at the Mad Frog, and we played at 1 AM, the lamest spot ever, and we had a bit of a disheartening turnout (thanks to CeCe, John, Brooke, Hilary, Jess, Kayleigh, and whoever else I'm forgetting), but we PLACED SECOND and won two songs at a local studio! Watch out for a single release coming out sometime next month!!!

Today, Nick P. and I woke up early to go to it's the 4th of july.. must go play.
